The Record

My name is Fenn Hugo Jester. I was born Benjamin Thomas Jacks.

This is why this site exists.

I was sexually abused throughout my childhood, over years, by more than one person and in more than one place.

At home. At school. At my grandparents’ house. Abroad. Even being collected from school could become part of it.

There was barely anywhere in my childhood that it did not reach.

It was not a series of unrelated encounters with strangers. I believe the abuse was organised, and that members of my own family were involved in arranging and enabling it.

When I finally understood what had happened and confronted them, not one of them denied it.

Nobody asked what I remembered. Nobody asked who had abused me, where it happened, or when.

They stopped speaking to me.

All of them.

None of them has spoken to me since.

I reported what happened. Over the next three years, five police forces became involved. What followed is documented here.

The first major piece on this site examines the policing of my reports. It is detailed, sourced and dated. More will follow.

But this site is bigger than one case file.

It is where I am putting the whole record together, in public, under my own name.

What happened to me. What happened when I reported it. The people involved. The evidence. The contradictions. The things I know, the things I believe, and the questions that remain unanswered.

Some of it is extraordinary.

That does not make it untrue.

I have spent enough of my life making what happened smaller so that other people would find it easier to hear.

I am not doing that here.

If you are a journalist, solicitor, investigator, or someone who knew me or my family, you are welcome to contact me. You can do so anonymously, and contacting me commits you to nothing.

If you simply want to understand what happened, start reading.

Everything I can put on the record will go on the record.

This is the beginning.
